Spiderwort (Tradescantia ohiensis)
The pure purple flowers of the Spiderwort may be seen on roadsides and other sunny areas throughout Weeks Bay Reserve. The flowers contain an enzyme that causes them to "autodestruct" after blooming for a single day. This explains their other common name: "Dayflower".
