BirdFest Social with Speakers and Raffle

A local guide, historian, and all-around Gulf Coast Legend, Jimbo Meador is the 2019 BirdFest featured photographer. Many of you know have probably taken Jimbo’s Delta trips, so you know you are in for a treat! See some of his amazing photographs, and hear his stories about capturing some of these photos.
The new Science and Conservation Director with Birmingham Audubon, Kianne Koczur has been working with birds for the past decade. She started as a seasonal technician, monitoring Black-capped Vireos, Piping Plovers, and Least Terns, among other species. Lianne attended graduate school at Texas A&M University – Kingsville where she earned an M.S. in Range and Wildlife Management and a Ph.D. in Wildlife Science. Her research involved determining the reproductive success of American Oystercatchers in Texas and examining the movement ecology of Reddish Egrets. More recently Lianne worked with Brown Pelicans in south Texas. She joined Birmingham Audubon in March of this year, and she is also the newest member of the Alabama Coastal Bird Stewardship Program.
The Friday evening social will end with Kathy Hicks’, of 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center, now famous slide show of the many remarkable bird photos taken by area photographers. DVDs of the presentation will be available for sale following the social.
