The Foundation has recently been working to encourage continued federal funding for the Weeks Bay Reserve. The Reserve receives 70% of its budget from NOAA and 30% from the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The current Presidential Budget for Fiscal Year 2018 calls for a 100% cut to the National Estuarine Research Reserve System (NERRS). This will dramatically affect our Weeks Bay Reserve, as well as 28 other reserves across the country.
You can call or email your Representatives to let them know that the Reserves are important to you!
